Five people are dead and theee others are in serious condition after multi-vehicle crash on State Road 39 last night, Florida Highway Patrol reported this morning
Four of the five who died in the wreck near Bruton Road were from Zephyrhills. One was an infant girl and another was a 12-year-old girl.
According to FHP, a 2015 Ford Expedition with a driver and six passengers was traveling northbound on SR 39 when it, for an unknown reason crossed the center line and collided nearly head-on with a 2021 Nissan Frontier.
The driver of the Ford, a 20-year-old girl and her 56-year-old passenger also also died in the crash. Three other passengers were seriously injured. In addition, a 53-year-old Valrico man, the driver of the Nissan, perished.
The Nissan came to final rest in the southbound lane of SR- 39 with no lights illuminating the vehicle. A short time later, while traveling southbound, a tractor trailer collided with the passenger side of the Nissan with both vehicles coming to final rest along the east shoulder of the highway.
