Bulldogs roll over Pasco 61-23
The Nine-Mile War on the hardwood was a mere squabble Friday night as Zephyrhills rolled over rival Pasco, 61-23.
Bulldog junior Kevin Pagan led all scorers with 15 points. All 10 players on the roster scored in a game that saw Pasco play with just six players.
“Some of their guys were out and we had some things we wanted to work on,” said Zephyrhills coach Mike Novak. “We gave a lot of kids a lot of playing time and they did good.”
The game was its closest in the first quarter with Zephyrhills closing out the quarter with a 20-11 lead. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 31-17 at the half. Novak’s defense yielded just six points in the second half.
The Bulldogs were without offensive standout Jimmy McCauley (17 points, 12 rebounds a game).
“It was a good game for everybody,” Novak said. “We’ve had some tough games and tough matchups. We need a game where we could make a couple baskets and get a lot of guys in the game.”
Along with Pagan’s 15 points, Preston Linville added nine and Joseph Barnes added eight. Pasco was led by Julius Ambrose with eight points.
The win Friday, coupled with a 69-60 loss to Wiregrass Ranch Tuesday night brought the Bulldogs record to 5-8 on the season.
