In a game where the Warriors trailed most of the first half, the offense put enough plays together when it counted, and the defense stood tall to preserve the lead and get the win.

If you look at the ZCA program, it was obvious that the Warrior’s victory was as a easy as 1, 2, 3, as Andrew Felder (#1), Quavious Cook (#2) and Dimitri Wade (#3) all scored touchdowns in the big win for coach Mike Smith’s squad.

NFEI got on the scoreboard in the first quarter and held a 6-0 lead until quarterback Nick Novo tossed a 25-yard TD pass to Felder who cut across the field in his sprint to the end zone. Novo plowed in for the two-point conversion to put the ZCA ahead 8-6.

“I’m glad we won, but if we don’t change and get rid of these penalties, we’re in trouble in the playoffs,” said Smith. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy even though they were 0-4 coming in here. They play some really tough competition.

“We are definitely a second-half team, but we tried to come out quick with the short passes. We couldn’t complete them, and the penalties killed us.”

At the 8:20 mark of the fourth quarter, Novo went to work again when he found Cook for a 50-yard TD pass to put the Warriors up 14-6.

The Eagles pulled close in the fourth quarter at 14-12, but the Warriors came up tough when they needed to take over the fourth quarter.

To eliminate any doubt, Wade dashed for a 10-yard touchdown with just 1:13 to play to give the Warriors the winning margin at 20-12.

NEFI tried to put a drive together, but the defense came up big twice capped off by a late-game interception by freshman safety Fred Adams.
