Preston Linville had a game-high 20 points leading the Bulldogs to a 74-30 domination of visiting Cypress Creek Wednesday night.
Linville, a sophomore guard, was a threat from behind the arc canning four-three-pointers including a pair in his 10-point third quarter. Joining Linville in double figures was Kevin Pagan with 16 points and Jimmy McCauley with 14.
Zephyrhills jumped out quick on the Coyotes and held a 20-10 lead after the opening quarter. A strong second quarter by Linville helped propel the Bulldogs to a 35-17 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Bulldogs can enough to take a 35-point advantage forcing a running clock through the fourth quarter.
Zephyrhills entered the game looking to rebound from suffering its only loss of the season, 73-49 to Brecksville-Broadview Heights, OH in the final of the Nature Coast Christmas Tournament.
“We’ve had some spirited practices that last couple of days. We got punched in the mouth by the Ohio team, so we’ve been going at it at practices,” said Bulldog head coach Mike Novak. “You can see that they had a little bit more energy tonight. They got after it a bit.
“We have a super tough schedule coming up in the next five or six games. After tonight, I still see we can do better.”
