Football is back

High School football players hit the practice field at ZHS to prepare for the upcoming 2022 season where the Bulldogs enter a new district and have some new faces.

Head coach Nick Carroll’s Bulldogs are coming off a 9-2 district championship season. The season came to a disappointing conclusion with a heartbreaking 12-10 loss to St. Pete Gibbs.

The fire is back in camp as the Bulldogs enter the new Class 3 Suburban, District 7 with rival Pasco and neighboring Wesley Chapel and Cypress Creek.

Don’t think the schedule is light as Carroll stacked the slate with talent like IMG Academy, Wiregrass Ranch, South Sumter. The Villages, Lake Wales, Dunnellon and Lakeland Kathleen.

To get a look at the 2022 Bulldogs, Carroll and company are hosting the annual “Saturday Night Lights” event at Tom Fisher Field at Bulldog Stadium starting at 6 p.m.

If you need to satisfy that football fix, you can do it Saturday night. The Bulldogs’ first game is the preseason classic at home August 19 against Land O’ Lakes.
