The Bulldogs are not looking to rebuild for the 2022 season, they are reloading with the arrival of football phenom Damien Pickett Jr. to the program.
After two seasons at Carrollwood Day School as a varsity player as an eighth grader and a freshman, Pickett comes to ZHS with more than 30 Division I College Scholarship offers including Alabama and Georgia, which will play Monday for a National Championship.
Last season for the Patriots, the defensive back/wide receiver finished the season with 24 tackles, two for a loss, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles, On offense, he had eight receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown.
Pickett will not make his athletic debut on the football field however, he will put his talents on display for the Bulldogs’ baseball team.
Pickett, Jr., the son of speedster and former Bulldog standout Damien Pickett, is a product of the Zephyrhills Athletic League youth program.
