Basketball Senior Night

A near packed house at the Dog House joined in paying tribute to seven ZHS senior boys basketball players during the 2024 senior night celebration

Jakobe Campbell, Darryl Vereen, Joseph Stosh, Theodore Sands, JJ McGovern, Brody Kuzmaak-Griswold and Jeremiah Clark were escorted by their families to center court prior to the ZHS Bulldogs’ final home game against Patel.

The seven seniors, who anchor coach Mike Novak’s 13-10 squad, put on a show combining for 54 points on their night leading ZHS to an 87-55 win over the Trailblazers.

“They’re all good kids and work real hard,” Novak said of his seniors. “It was good senior night for them. We usually have really tough teams on senior night and this game was much tougher than the score indicates. There are so many distractions with senior night. They were focused and got going from the start.”

The Bulldogs took the lead from the opening tip and never looked back. Clark led the Bulldogs with 19 points and in a late hot streak, sophomore Messiah McKinley came off the bench and scored 18 points, all in the fourth quarter.

In addition, the senior members of the ZHS Dazzling Divas Dance Team were recognized. Joining their parents during the senior night presentation were Mariah Lipsey, Aalailah Hicks and Chenae Desir.
