The location was different, the format was different, but the popularity didn’t change for the 2024 Pigz in Z’Hills BBQ & Blues Fest Saturday.
The change of venue from the airport event center to downtown Zephyrhills didn’t keep the thousands of attendees from enjoying some great music and the wares from over 100 vendors.
The BBQ aspect of the event was limited compared to years past with a few vendors selling BBQ and the remaining food coming from a wide variety of food trucks.
There was some competitive grilling as the Kidz Grillin’ Competition took over with some of the best youth grillers taking home their prizes.
Benny Brown came away with the top honor, followed by Brock Jarrett in second and Rhiya Moreno finishing third. Also in the top 10 were Asher Jones, Sammy Brown, Makaila Manriquez, Roman Cruz, Cecelia Wallace, Brayden Fey and Miko Lanes.
Aiding to the success of the event was the weather with the sun shining and temperatures in the low 80s.
“This is our first time doing this downtown. We’ll assess and see how it went,” Wiggins said. “We’ll look and the good, bad and the ugly and see what the feedback is. So far the feedback has been great. People like it downtown.”
