Sept. 11 event taking off at Skydive City

The September 11 Memorial event at Skydive City for the 20th Anniversary of the attacks on our Nation has become a day to “NEVER LET US FORGET” that horrific day and all the innocent victims who perished. The event will be in the form of skydiving aerial demonstration jumps to be performed throughout the morning of Saturday, September 11, 2021.

The event, the brainchild of Patrick Fortune, a professional skydiving photographer, U.S. Air Force veteran and former First Responder, will open with the presentation of the Stars and Stripes from the first aircraft aloft at 7:05 a.m. The Phantom Airborne Brigade will follow with the jumping the “Colors” into the drop zone. The Phantom Airborne Brigade consists of Veterans of military airborne units who continue to parachute together years after their service has ended.

Four flights of De Havilland Twin Otter aircraft will transport dozens of skydivers, along with First Responders making tandem parachute jumps, aloft to present several different disciplines of skydiving prowess to the attendees of this event. The Twin Otter flights will take off at approximately at 8:25, 8:45, 9:15 and 10:10 a.m.. At 9:30 AM there will be a moment of Silence followed by a few words from Pastor Ben Shurtliff.

The event will start with the first jump at 7:05 a.m. and conclude around 10:30 a.m. The event meant to bring the public together to remember and honor those who died on that fateful day and to remind us that the war on terrorism is ongoing. This event will be happening at drop zones across America and a few overseas.
