In an emotional celebration, six varsity senior volleyball players were recognized during the senior night festivities prior to the Lady Bulldogs’ game against Patel Tuesday night.
Seniors Payton Leidy, Tiara Sands, Grace Gonzalez-Liz, Tessa Starnes, Tori Goodman and Sabrina Calhoun were joined by their families and recognized for their contributions to the Zephyrhills volleyball program.
The Lady Bulldog seniors went out with a 25-12, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-15 win over Patel.
First-year head coach Maya Clark tried to hold it together as she spoke about her senior class.
“I couldn’t imagine the program without them,” Clark said. “From Sabrina’s kills to Tori’s positive attitude to Tiara’s always wanting to be there and be helpful and Payton and Tessa are assets as captains and I can put Grace anywhere on the court. There were several times that these ladies stepped up to play different roles.
“I know they are feeling the emotions tonight. I have seen a few of them show their emotions. They have been great and I couldn’t imagine this school year without them.”
