Bulldogs run past River Ridge 74-44
Zephyrhills Coach Mike Novak kept his eight-season winning streak over River Ridge alive after the Bulldogs pummeled the Royal Knights 74-44 in Wednesday’s season opener at the Dog House.
Ken McCullough and Brandon Browne canned 17 points apiece and Jeremiah Clark add 11 to pace the Bulldogs in the win.
“They have been here and it’s good to have three guys like that,” Novak said. “Last year we had three guys who scored 13.9 points per game, so these three guys could step into that role.”
It was Zephyrhills’ speed on the floor and control of the boards that proved to be too much for River Ridge.
This has been an interesting week for Novak and his staff as they filled their roster with athletes making the transition from football season. He is looking to see his team gel as the season progresses.
“We have to do better,” Novak said. “We didn’t run the offense. They gave us trouble with the press. We were fortunate we are quick.”
