The Villages pour it on Zephyrhills 12-0

The Villages’ hitters hammered out 12 runs on 14 hits and pitched a two-hitter to down Zephyrhills 12-0 at Craig Milburn Field Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs bats went cold as Isabella Rivera accounted for both of the Zephyrhills’ hits. Emma-Lei Buchanan and Hannah Helms reached base on an error.

The Buffaloes proved why they are one of the state’s top teams by scoring early and often scoring eight runs in the first two innings off of starter Alex Bowe-Wootten. Reliever Laila Woolfolk pitched the final four innings allowing four runs and striking out three.

“We didn’t hit and they did,” Zephyrhills Coach Kristen Dumont said. “We had a couple errors out there, but they hit the ball real well. We need to hit. It’s that simple.”

The Villages improved to 9-0 on the season while Zephyrhills drops to 2-3. The Bulldogs are back in action Friday against Wiregrass with the first pitch at 8 p.m.
