New indoor basketball facility opens on Chancey Road
Anyone with hoop dreams may be able to make them come true in Zephyrhills.
AAU Coaches Colin Bolinger and Brock Byrd opened a new indoor basketball gym at 40417 Chancey Rd. in Zephyrhills, called Hoops Heaven.
The gym features three state-of-the-art breakaway basketball goals where the coaches offer private trainings, small group sessions, developmental youth leagues, and competitive travel teams. As an added bonus, players who join one of their basketball teams also gain 24/7 access to the gym—a service only offered by Hoops Heaven.
The converted warehouse is one of only a handful of private gyms that offer basketball in the entire Pasco-Hillsborough County area.
“We really wanted to help fill that void that we’ve been seeing for years—our players don’t want to practice in the Florida heat and rain anymore, which was our only option”, explained Bolinger. “Before Covid hit, we were practicing in a school gym. But schools stopped offering that to outside teams.”
Bolinger has been helping athletes improve their basketball skills for over 10 years. He is certified by the American Council on Exercise, and also has a Master’s Degree in Sports Management. Byrd moved to Florida earlier this year from Indianapolis, where he coached with the Catholic Young Boys and Men program for 11 years.
The coaches have a long history of working together, starting when they played competitive basketball in middle school. They are passionate about their sport, and about passing their extensive knowledge on to others—especially local youth.
Hoops Heaven and the Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce invite the public to come check out the gym at their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
