It was a landmark day for women’s athletics at Zephyrhills High School as three Lady Bulldogs signed letters of intent to play sports on the collegiate level.
Volleyball player Payton Leidy signed to play at Division I University of North Carolina Asheville. The senior captain was a force at her Libero position and led the team in digs.
Tessa Starnes is taking her soccer skills to Pasco Hernando State College along with team mate Ashley Ford. The two, who helpoed ZHS to a record-setting season last year, sat together to sign their letters of intent.
All three sat in the commons area at ZHS and listened to their coaches sing their praises and then took the opportunities to give tearful and emotional speeches thanking the people who helped them reach this point in their athletic careers.
