After falling in the tournament opener to Dade City, the Zephyrhills Senior Girls Softball team won the next two to punch their ticket to the state tournament.
Zephyrhills advance to the state tournament that will be played on their home field at Sam Pasco Park July 7-9.
In other action, Zephyrhills 8-10 baseball took a 12-0 win over Temple Terrace. Zephyrhills will play Dade City Monday at 6:30 p.m.,
In 9-11 baseball action, Zephyrhills dropped its tournament opener to Land O’ Lakes 4-3. They will be back in action Monday at 6:30 against North Seminole. The Senior baseball squad lost to Progress Village 12-0 and play Land O’ Lakes Monday at 6:30 p.m.
On the softball side, Zephyrhills 8-10 softball fell to Land O’ Lakes 14-4 and face Dade City Monday at 6:30 p.m. The 10-12 girls squad was eliminated from the tournament after dropping its second game to Land O’ Lakes.
It took two days, dozens of volunteers, two airboats and a lot of clay to get the Zephyrhills Little League district games in at Sam Pasco Park. Games started Monday were washed out by heavy rains and resumed Tuesday.
The Zephyrhills 8-10 girls softball team advanced with a 15-9 win over Dade City for a potential championship matchup against unbeaten Land O’ Lakes.
The double elimination tournament saw a pair of Zephyrhills teams end their season as the 8-10 boys baseball team fell 9-6 to Dade City and the 9-11 boys baseball squad lost to North Seminole, 5-3.
Mother Nature played havoc with the Senior Baseball schedule as Zephyrhills and Land O’ Lakes game will resume Wednesday. The location will be determined based on field conditions at Sam Pasco Park with possible alternative location at Zephyrhills High School or Land O’ Lakes Little League.
