ZPD reports man fired in self defense

A 46-year-old Zephyrhills man, who was armed with a chain and was aggressively approaching another man, was shot and later arrested Wednesday for aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

According to Zephyrhills Police, William Ashley Parrish of 5835 Eighth St. was shot in the leg by the victim, who was defending himself from a potential attack.

Parrish and the victim were in a verbal altercation in the parking lot of Harbor Freight Tools in Zephyr Plaza where Parrish had a three to five foot dog chain in his hand striking the victim’s vehicle four times. It was reported that Parrish then approached the victim aggressively with the chain and the victim shot him in self defense.

Parrish’s injuries were not life threatening. He was arrested and taken to the Pasco County Jail.
