ZPD K9s continue to be valuable tool to combat drug problem
A Zephyrhills Police K9 played a big role in the arrest of an alleged drug dealer.
Zephyrhills arrested 52-year-old transient, Vincent Jonas, last week on multiple drug charges after a ZPD K9 yielded an alert after an exterior sniff of a vehicle. A further search netted 7.3 grams of methamphetamine and 2.57 grams of Fentanyl packaged for sale plus a morphine pill. In addition police uncovered a digital scale.
Police say Jonas was the passenger in a vehicle stopped near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Chancey Road by ZPD for a stop sign violation.
Jonas was charged with possession of methamphetamine and Fentanyl with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
