A 17-year-old Zephyrhills boy who was riding his bike on Allen Road this morning was killed when a drunk motorist crossed into his lane and collided him, Florida Highway Patrol reported this morning.
According to FHP, a Ford Mustang driven by Andrea Nadine Woods, 43, of Zephyrhills was traveling southbound on Allen Road and the bicyclist was also traveling southbound, but in the opposite lane with another bicyclist. As Woods approached the bicyclists, she failed to maintain control of her vehicle which crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the 17-year-old bicyclist who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
Impaired in excess of three times the legal limit, Woods was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter and delivered to the Pasco County Jail. Neither were wearing helmets or using lights on the bikes.
