Roy Edward Hella

Mr. Roy Edward Hella, age 83, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021, in Dade City, FL. Mr. Hella was born in Laurium, MI on July 12, 1937, son of the late Theodore Hella and Minnie Tervo.

He was a veteran of the US Navy and served proudly onboard the mighty battleship USS WISCONSIN BB-64 “The Wisky” from 1955 – 1958. On July 9, 1960, he married the love of his life, Virginia Kaye Gransee of Hayfield, MN. Roy and his family resided in Tecumseh, MI for over 40 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Virginia, and brother Elwood. Loved by his children, Ann (Bryon) Salters, Timothy (Renee), Andrew, Terrance, Corry and Heidi (Jeff) Rawlings. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Ty (Melissa), Steven, Lindsay (Jarrett), Brandon, Caitlyn (Jake), Tabitha (Micah), Kendra, Braxton (Hayley), Jacob, Virginia, Devin, Liam, Keira and Logan; great grandchildren; his sister, June; sister/brother-in laws; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and Violet who held a special place in his heart.

One of his many achievements was at the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy, followed by his careers as a police officer in Marquette and Tecumseh, MI for many years and retired from General Motors. Roy cherished the time spent with his wife and family. He loved traveling in his RV with Virginia, fishing, and making friends with everyone he met across the United States while visiting family and seeing the beautiful sites of this great country.

Roy was a very caring husband, dad, grandpa, and friend who will be greatly missed. We Love You Dad!
