Ronald Lee Bahr
Ronald Lee Bahr, 87, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend peacefully passed away July 2, 2021 in Brooksville with his loving wife and family by his side. In the face of cancer and Parkinson’s, he fought long and hard; his example of strength and love was an inspiration.
Ron was born in Gansevoort, NY on June 5, 1934. There he met and joined in a 64-year marriage with the love of his life, Edna Abare, and together they raised four children. After moving to Zephyrhills in 1968 they owned and operated Bahr’s Mobile Home Park along with Bahr’s Propane Gas with their son, Lenny.
His love of life was evident as he coached his boys and their friends in Rotary Club Baseball for more than 8 years. Ron’s laughter could be heard while golfing or fishing with his friends and family, and while gliding across the dance floor with his love. After retirement he and Edna spent years traveling the country, having adventures and meeting many new friend.
He is survived by his wife Edna, four children: Sandy (Bill) Twietmeyer, Lenny (Cindy) Bahr, Melonie (Dennis) Monson, Kevin (Sandy) Bahr, and nephew Calvin (Katie) Dickinson who became a son. His posterity also includes 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. After a life well lived, his legacy of love, laughter and sense of adventure will be carried on by all who knew and loved him.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Whitfield Funeral Home, 5008 Gall Blvd., Zephyrhills, Thursday July 8, (family from 5-6 p.m., friends from 6-7 p.m.) A service with the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to HPH Hospice will be appreciated.
