A special memorial service and celebration of life for beloved former Zephyrhills High School football coach Tom Fisher will be held Friday March 7, at 6 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium on the field that bears his name.
Fisher, who coached at ZHS 20 years, died Feb. 9 after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurological disorder that affects body movements, walking and balance, eye movements, muscle movements and other important functions.
In his two decades at the helm of the football program, Fisher’s teams won 124 games, four conference titles, three district championships, eight playoff appearances and he was named conference coach of the year four times.
In 2017, the football field at Bulldog Stadium at Zephyrhills High School was renamed and dedicated in honor of Fisher.
The March 7 service ironically will take place on a Friday night, the night of the week Fisher loved as a football coach. It is also his birthday.
Zephyrhills Principal Amanda McCoy asks all attendees to park on the practice field and enter through the gates by the concession stand. There will be no access to the field from the gym parking lot.
Everyone is asked to sit in the bleachers as you would a regular football game. The concession stand will be open as Coach Fisher would want the “football game” vibe for his final send-off.
