Hometown Furniture Grand Opening

Hometown Furniture’s Grand Opening is a celebration of community and family.

The event, going on until 5 p.m. today, is filled with sales, drawings and family and friends willing to provide shopping assistance around every corner of the store. Whether it’s living room furniture, bedroom sets, mattresses, dining room tables, lamps, rugs, appliance and so much more, this celebration has it all.

Store owner John Meseimore, along with his wife Tammy saw Badcock Home Furnishings close its doors in Zephyrhills last year, leaving a void in the community that relied heavily on the hometown business that sold appliances, furniture, and electronics.

Months later, following a lot of soul searching and prayer, store owner John Meseimore and his wife Tammy, are back in the same location on Sixth Street doing what they love by selling and financing home furnishings.

Today the couple, joined by family friends and dozens of customers held the Grand Opening of Hometown Furniture.

“It’s been great getting to this point and the community has been great to us,” Meseimore said in between assisting customers. “We’ve been marketing and getting out of our comfort zone with videos, we put out a billboard and we’re just getting the name out there and it’s working.”

The videos have been a hit and Meseimore’s new name, “Hometown John” is giving him some local celebrity status.

“I notice several people come in and look at like some kind of celebrity,” Meseimore joked. “They say they saw me on Facebook.”

It has been a labor of love for John and his family and friends, and they are glad to be back.

“It’s awesome and I’m glad to be back,” Meseimore said.

The Grand Opening celebration that features live music, free food, a bounce house for the kids and great deals will continue until 5 p.m.
