A 27-year-old Auburndale motorcyclist was killed shortly before 9 p.m. last night in a head-on collision on State Road 39.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was riding a Honda CB500 northbound at a high rate of speed when he attempted pass multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone south of Pattie Road when he collided head–on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 17-year old male from Plant City.
After the collision, the motorcycle overturned before colliding with a guardrail. The rider was propelled down an adjacent embankment suffering fatal injuries. The Jeep came to rest along the shoulder of the roadway with the driver and several teen passengers suffering minor injuries.
