Two car crash claims life of Virginia man, local woman in serious condition
A 79-year-old Virginia man was killed in a head-on collision today in a two-vehicle crash on Eiland Boulevard near Fountain Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 65-year-old Wesley Chapel woman was driving an SUV eastbound on Eiland Boulevard. when she crossed the center line of the road and struck the van driven by the 79-year-old man from Jamestown, Va., who was headed west on Eiland Boulevard. The crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. and halted traffic in both directions of the busy road.
The 79-year-old man was transported to a hospital but later died of his injuries. FHP reported he was not wearing his seatbelt. The 65-year-old woman was wearing her seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. The names of the victims were not released.
