Three-for-three

Zephyrhills Little League made history Saturday as a record three teams won Section 4 titles sending the teams to Little League State Championship tournaments.

The ZLL 10U Minor Softball All Stars cruised to the title with 22-0 and 25-10 wins over Northeast Little League. The 12U Major All Stars flexed their collective muscles to take 17-0 and 15-0 wins over Pinellas Park. On the baseball side, the 50/70 Intermediate squad claimed the title with a 13-3 win against Pinellas Par and a 20-2 victory over Manatee West.

It was an offensive display for the three Zephyrhills teams where they outscored opponents 112-15. The pitching staff for all three teams came up huge with the Major Girls getting no-hitters from Delaney Geiger and Aulbrey Matthews. Summer Garcia and Summer Collins combined for a no-hitter for the Minor 10U squad.

For the Intermediate Baseball team, Ronald Collins pitched a complete game with 91 pitches in the win over Pinellas Park. Caleb Reed pitched game 2 against Manatee West and recorded 14 strikeouts.

The Zephyrhills 12U Majors Softball team will travel to Land O’ Lakes July 11 for the state tournament. The Minor 10U Softball bid for a state title will begin July 18 at Palm Coast Little League and the Intermediate squad will make their bid for a state title June 27 in Plant City.

In July, the ZLL Majors 12U Baseball and 9-11 Baseball teams, both District 13 champions, will compete for sectional titles in help ZLL go five-for-five.
