A 33-year-old Zephyrhills man died Tuesday night from injuries suffered after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross CR 54 (Eiland Blvd.), authorities reported.
According to FHP, the accident occurred at approximately 9:16 p.m. west of Massey Road. Investigators said the man was walking along the shoulder of the roadway before attempting to cross when he stepped into the path of an eastbound Ford Escape driven by a 75-year-old Zephyrhills man.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Ford Escape was not injured, troopers said. The investigation is ongoing.
