Vehicle Crashes Into Mobile Home, Lands in Zephyr Lake

A pre-dawn crash jolted residents awake last Thursday morning after a vehicle veered off State Road 54, slammed into a mobile home, and plunged into Zephyr Lake, leaving the driver hospitalized and prompting a full investigation by the Zephyrhills Police Department.

The incident occurred Nov. 20, at approximately 2:24 a.m. in the Bedrock Winters Mobile Home Park, where officers arrived to find debris scattered near the damaged residence and the vehicle partially submerged in the lake.

According to early findings, the car had been traveling eastbound on State Road 54 when, for reasons still unknown, it drifted off the roadway, crossed into the mobile home park, struck an occupied residence, and continued forward before coming to rest in the water.

Miraculously, no one inside the mobile home was injured, despite the force of the impact. The driver, identified as the vehicle’s sole female occupant, was transported as a trauma alert to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Her condition has not been released.

The Zephyrhills Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information relevant to the investigation to contact them at 813-780-0050, option 1.

The crash remains under active investigation.
