Two of Zephyrhills High School’s most impactful football players officially took the next step in their athletic and academic journeys Wednesday afternoon, signing National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at the University of West Florida.
Running back Roe Miller and linebacker Khyril Everett put pen to paper during a ceremony at ZHS, surrounded by family, coaches and teammates who helped shape their success. The duo capped off a memorable run with the Bulldogs, earning Sunshine Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors—Miller on offense and Everett on defense.
ZHS head coach Nick Carroll, who guided the Bulldogs to an 11-1 season, reflected on what the moment meant for both athletes.
“Both these guys have worked for where they are,” Carroll said. “I think they both have great opportunities to go to West Florida, and this is a blessing for these two guys to go to the next level and play at a Division II school.”
Everett, a two-year starter, arrived at Zephyrhills two summers ago and quickly established himself as a force in the middle of the defense. Carroll praised not only his production, but his approach to the game.
“A couple of things about Kyrie—he’s very intense. He’s physical, he’s smart, he asks questions, he’s knowledgeable about the game of football,” Carroll said. “He plays with a ton of effort, and he’s a student of the game.”
This season, Everett recorded 122 tackles, finishing his ZHS career with 219 tackles over two years. He added 13 sacks, 22 tackles for loss and three blocked punts, numbers that helped earn him conference defensive player of the year honors.
On the offensive side, Miller developed into one of the most electrifying players in the region. Over the past two seasons, he rushed for 2,202 yards, including 1,452 yards this year alone. Miller also totaled 1,800 all-purpose yards and scored 25 touchdowns in his senior campaign.
“Roe is electrifying,” Carroll said. “He’s a great student, hardworking, knowledgeable, explosive, loves the game, smart, and plays with a ton of effort.”
Both Miller and Everett took time during the ceremony to thank their families, coaches and teammates for supporting them throughout their journeys.
Their signings also bolster what has been one of the strongest recruiting periods in University of West Florida football history. The Argos assembled a top-ranked 2026 class, signing 53 players total—25 transfers and 28 high school recruits.
“We are excited about the 2026 signing day class for both midyear and high school signees,” said UWF head coach Kaleb Nobles, who led the Argos to a 10-2 record last season. “We worked to sign players at each position to strengthen our roster for the 2026 season and beyond. Our staff at UWF is committed to player development, and we are excited to work with these players while they also gain a degree from UWF and build champions for life.”
For Zephyrhills High School, Wednesday’s ceremony was a celebration not just of individual accolades, but of hard work, growth and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
