Fifth Avenue was a sight to behold Saturday night as thousands of costumed revelers—zombies, princesses, superheroes, and everything in between—filled downtown Zephyrhills for the 2025 Main Street Zephyrhills Halloween Howl.
From the first cackle of a costumed witch to the last handful of candy, the city’s biggest Halloween celebration transformed the historic downtown strip into a playground of spooky fun and community spirit.
Children clutching pails and pumpkin buckets darted from booth to booth, collecting candy and treats from dozens of local businesses and organizations that lined the street. Parents joined the fun, many donning costumes of their own as they strolled through a safe, festive “trick-or-treat” zone that stretched across the heart of downtown.
“Man, I’m so excited,” said Antwon Gildon, Zephyrhills Main Street Director, beaming as the crowd swirled around him. “Our board is extremely happy and grateful for the community coming out and showing this much support. It’s unbelievable.”
Gildon credited strong promotion and teamwork for the event’s record turnout.
“We’ve done as much as we possibly can to promote this event on every angle,” he said. “I think this is what it looks like when everything comes together in the right way.”
As in years past, the Haunted House proved to be a highlight—this year located inside the historic Home Theater. The attraction drew brave souls through a maze of dimly lit, themed rooms crawling with zombies and eerie effects that had guests screaming and laughing in equal measure.
Meanwhile, laughter, music, and the rustle of candy wrappers filled the air outside as families soaked in the fall evening.
“From the local merchants to the vendors and all the patrons coming downtown and showing their support—I think this is what we’re supposed to be,” Gildon said with a smile. “Last year was a great event, but this one? This one might be even better.”
For one night, Zephyrhills’ Fifth Avenue became a place where the spooky met the sweet—and where the community came together to celebrate in true Halloween spirit.
