
A 75-year-old Zephyrhills man died Friday night after being struck by a sport utility vehicle while crossing 5th Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. on February 20 on 5th Avenue west of 1st Street. A Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 21-year-old Zephyrhills woman was traveling eastbound when the pedestrian darted across the roadway and entered the path of the vehicle.
The man was struck and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured, and no other individuals were involved in the incident.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Preliminary information indicates the pedestrian entered the roadway suddenly.
