The Zephyrhills High School girls volleyball team fell to district rival Pasco on Thursday night, dropping a straight-sets match, 25-15, 25-12, 25-19.
The Bulldogs struggled early against the Pirates’ strong serving and front-line attack, falling behind quickly in the first two sets. Zephyrhills showed signs of momentum in the third, keeping pace with Pasco before ultimately being edged out.
“You could see in the third game, the girls were having fun and playing together,” said Zephyrhills Coach Maya Clark.
With the loss, Zephyrhills drops to 2-4 on the season. Pasco snapped a five-match losing streak with the sweep.
In a special treat, coach Clark delivered an amazing rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” before the Sept. 11 match. The Bulldogs return to action this weekend as they look to rebound and climb back to .500.
