Power Prospects USA baseball and softball academy stepped up to the plate this week and opened the doors of its 5040 Airport Rd.
location to the public with an Open House event Monday evening.
From small little leaguers to former Major League players, the Open House showed off the 15,000 square-foot facility’s state-of-the-art amenities.Batting cages, bull pen areas, a full gym and agility area, lounge and top-notch instruction were on display as owner Yan Gershengoren and his team welcomed players and parents from east Pasco and beyond.
Gershengoren signed the lease for the facility in October of 2023 Yan and finally opened to the public June 30, 2025.
“It took a lot longer than we thought,” Gershengoren said. “It took a lot of tears, a lot of sweat, a lot of hard work, but we finally made it, and I think it’s great for the community that we’re going to have something for them to be able to come in and train.
“I mean, the response so far, even in the last couple of hours has been amazing. People have been saying how much they like it and thanking us. We should be thanking them.”
Power Prospects USA offers full-service softball, and baseball academy style training which Gershengoren says is training that gets players to the next level.
“Whatever level your daughter or son are at, we can work with them to get them to the next level,” Gersengoren said, “whatever that is, either playing Little League, going into travel ball, travel into possibly playing for your JV or high school team, from your high school team to go collegiate, and even some collegiate athletes to go into getting ready to go to the major leagues. We do it all here.”
Power Prospects USA accommodates full teams as well.
“We offer team memberships,” Gershengoren. “We’re going to do cage rental as well. If it’s raining outside, you know, the teams need cages, we’re going to do rentals for them. If they just want to come in and sharpen up for a tournament, we’ll be able to set them up. If teams want to come here and actually train, we’ll do that as well with our trainers and our coaches to work with the boys or girls and get them ready for the next tournament or whatever is coming.”

The instructors include former Major Leaguer Jose Ortega, who was signed with the Yankees when he was 16. He played professionally with the Yankees and Cardinals. Ortega has been training players and coaching in Tampa for 26 years. Gily Morales, who is a bullpen catcher in the Yankees organization, is the catching instructor.
Morales, who was the starting catcher on the Puerto Rican National Team, works with major league pitchers who come to Tampa for rehab and works with rookie pitchers as well.
Coach Rick Antinori is a dual threat after coaching baseball and softball on the collegiate level. He most recently coached Clark State baseball in Ohio and coached softball for six seasons at Suffolk County Community College Softball program. He designed training programs that helped mold the country’s leading batting average while consistently ranking top five nationally in several offensive categories.
Power Prospects USA is offering baseball and softball camps for players of all skill levels.
“It doesn’t matter whatever the age, they’ll go through the same process, Gershengoren. “Players will do some work in the gym, regardless of their age, they’ll work with bands if they’re too little. They’ll work on speed and agility. We’ll work on hitting, pitching, fielding and catching. We’ll work in the field as well and have them do field work. So, it’s a full array from 8 to 3. They’re going to be working. There’s no downtime, only for lunch.”
To register for the camps, parents and players can register in person at Power Prospects USA at 5040 Airport Road or call (813) 857-4375.
