Wendy Turmel’s fundraising goal to help raise $100,000 for local organizations wasn’t just reached Tuesday night, it was crushed as her super fundraiser at her Dogpound Sports Bar and Arcade put her over the top with more than $104,680.
Turmel’s fundraising efforts started 10 months ago when she hosted fundraising Bingo games in support of local sports organizations and several other nonprofits. More than 60 fundraisers later, Turmel saw that a milestone of $100,000 is possible.
She set up her super fundraiser and supporters packed the house to help her reach her goal and with incredible fanfare, Turmel announced that the generosity of the attendees helped her crush her goal.
“I am just beside myself with joy,” Turmel said. “I am so happy and so excited. I just don’t know what to say.”
The week leading up to Tuesday’s event had its “ups and downs,” but Turmel was confident that the community would come out and strongly support her efforts.
“There was a lot of stress and questioning myself, but going into today, I knew we were going to get it,” Turmel said. “This crowd is amazing to pack my house on a Tuesday night. It’s amazing to have all this community support.”
What’s next?
“$200,000,” Turmel proudly said.
