Wesley Chapel freshman pitcher Lucy Cavall threw a one-hit shutout and the Wildcats bats were hot in handing Zephyrhills an 17-0 loss Tuesday night.
Cavall struck out four and walked three in her five innings of work in a game shortened due to the 10-run mercy rule.
“Chapel is swinging at strikes and are not chasing pitches and when they make contact, they hit it hard,” said Zephyrhills head coach Kristen Dumont. “We need to be more aggressive in the box.”
The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 2-5 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 5-4. Zephyrhills will close out the first half of the season Friday on the road against Sunlake.
