Main Street Zephyrhills partnered with Fancy Fleas Saturday to make Fifth Avenue the fancy place to be for thousands of attendees to enjoy items from vintage clothes to hand made housewares to arts and crafts.
The eclectic variety of vendors that filled downtown come thanks to the partnership between Main Street and Fancy Fleas, a group that sets up similar events in varying small cities locally.
According to Main Street Executive Director Antwon Gildon, the event is the first of its kind in Zephyrhills and based on the overwhelming success, there’s a great chance it will return.
“We felt like after seeing the areas Fancy Fleas has been in, we thought Zephyrhills was a great option for them,” Gildon said. “We want to be able to offer the residents of the community, something different, something unique and something new. It seems that the community has turned out for it.”
Main Street events like Founder’s Day, Halloween Howl, Festival of Lights, and others will continue annually, but Gildon said Fancy Fleas a fresh, new event. We never want to take anything away, but rather something new.
“This is one of those events that showcases who we are and what we’re about,” Gildon said. “Our hope is people at least come out and experience it. That’s how we continue to bring in new things.”
Zephyrhills Mayor Melonie Monson had her family in tow as they took in the offerings from all the vendors of the new downtown event. “It is exciting. This is a great thing for Main Street,” Monson said. “These are different vendors than what we’re used to and it’s nice to see all these people down here.”
